Brief Character Description: He is ruthless to the core, powerful and extremely focused and dedicated to the cause. Passionate in his nature and extreme in his actions, Magneto is unafraid to be hated and actually welcomes it because it helps to fuel his own feelings and lend strength to every thing he does. He's fanatical and stubborn, rarely back downs and doesn't give up without a fight. Some would mistake him for being cold hearted and the wrong impression is used to present an image of Magneto that the world sees and accepts. Wrong impressions are key. Magneto is a villain but he isn't so far gone that he cannot see sense, he knows when it's time to switch sides and play the role of a good guy. He's not as evil as a lot of people would like to believe, there's great depth and character in the master of magnetism.

Physical Attributes: Magneto stands at an impressive six foot and two inches and weighs 190 pounds, he has blue-grey eyes and white hair. He has a great chronological age and yet he appears to be relatively young. His outfits will vary, he prefers darker colours and will always wear a cape of sorts. He only wears a helmet when engaging the enemy.

Special Character Powers/Abilities: Magneto is considered to be the most powerful man on the planet, he's a mutant with the superhuman power of magnetokinesis. He's able to shape and maniupulate magnetic fields that exist naturally or artificially. He can lift, move and manipulate objects (sometimes weighing many thousands of tons), and he can manipulate bloodflow to other's brains to cause either aneurysm or unconsciousness. He can also absord and redirect electricity, control ferrous particles in the atmosphere, even the very air. He also has the ability to alter the Earth's magnetic filed which extends into space as the Magnetosphere, increase his own strength to the extent of being able to exchange blows with Colossus, he can fly in or beyond the Earth's atmosphere.

He's been able to stop armies, move mountains and has even threatened to devastate the world with apocalyptic floods and earthquakes. It's unclear if he draws the magnetic force from outside himself (if this is the case, he can do so over vast distances) and it could be that he can naturally generate as well as drawing on the Earth's magnetic filed to increase his power, this would make him a resorvoir and a conduit.

His primary power is magnetism, he also seems to have the ability to project or manipulate any form of energy that is related to magnetism and the entire electro-magnetic spectrum. He's able to open wormholes through space, create almost impenetrable force fields and become invisible by deflecting visible light around his body. He can fire bolts of electricity and of pure magnetic force and he can create enough heat to destroy a metal door. He can reverse lasers, electricity and other forms of radiation or energy when fired at him. In addition to all of this, he can create anti-gravity fields and does so whenever he levitates non-magnetic objects.

He also possesses some psychic abilities, such as the ability to create a psychic shield for protection against psionic attacks. He has been known to read minds, astral project and aided by a device of his creation, controlled minds (He has controlled minds without the device but only through manipulating the iron in blood and redirecting its flow through the brain)

His ability to wield his superhuman powers is dependent on his physical condition. If severely injured, his body is unable to withstand the strain of manipulating great amounts of magentic forces. When his powers are not at their peak, he appears to have greater difficulty controlling forces other than magnetism.

Magneto is an expert on genetic manipulation and engineering with knowledge far beyond that of contemporary science. He is considered to be a genius within various scientific fields. He is also a skilled strategist and has more than a rudimentary knowledge of hand-to-hand combat.

Brief Character History: Magneto is a survivor of a death camp, Auschwitz to be more exact. His power over magnetism hadn't developed when he was a young boy, he and his family were persecuted for being Jewish. Magneto bore witness to the murder of his family by the Nazis during the Holocaust. He was the only one to survive and was sent into the camps where he was forced by the Naxis to work in Sonderkommandos.

Since then, Magneto has been tormented by the fact he could have put a stop to the entire process had he only been aware of his full powers at the time. However, it's unlikely he would have been able to do anything due to the fact he was malnourished and sickly while in the camps.

Magneto escaped the death camp with a woman called Magda. After World War II, he married Magda and sired a daughter called Anya. The first time he used his powers was to protect Magda and himself from a fire, unfortunately he was unable to rescue his daughter due to his inexperience coupled with interference from a mob of angry humans. Magneto unleashed his powers to decimate the human crowd in revenge. Terrified by Magneto's powers, Magda fled.

Months later, Magda discovered she was pregnant and she died giving birth to mutant twins Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. While searching for his wife during this time, Magneto, realising that his name was known to his pursuers, paid a forger named George Odekirk to create the cover identity of "Erik Magnus Lehnsherr" for him. His true name is unknown.

Magneto made his way to the newly created nation of Israel. There he met and befriended Charles Xavier while working at a psychiatric hosptial near Haifa that was trying to help traumatised Holocaust victims. Neither man revealed to the other that they were a mutant. They were known for holding lengthy debates hypothesizing what would happen if humanity were faced with a new, super-powered, race of humans. Both men were revealed as mutants when they prevented Nazi Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his HYDRA agents from obtaining a large cache of Nazi gold. Upon the realisation that his and Xavier's views on mutant-human relations were incompatible, Magneto left with the gold.

Magnus would soon reemerge as Magneto, a mutant determined on conquering the human race to prevent their oppression of mutants. The X-Men thwarted his first public move in his war with humanity and when they next clashed, Magneto was leading his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

His experience in the death camps has shaped his outlook on the current situation that mutants face in the Marvel Universe. Determined that such atrocities will never be commited against mutant-kind, Magneto's willing to use deadly force to protect mutants. He has on many occasions expressed the belief that mutants (Homo Superior) will eventually become the dominant life form on the planet. He tends to waver between wanting to exist in harmony with Homo Sapiens, wanting a seperate homeland for mutants and wanting to enforce his superiority over all humanity. His status as hero or villain is complex, his methods are often extreme but his goals are often noble at their root.
